		</p><div>Dear Harold,</div>
<div>I was knee-high to a myna bird when Twin Peaks was first broadcast. Years later in my teens, I&#8217;d left the TV on whilst doing some homework &#8211; Channel 5 for some ungodly reason.</div>
<div></div>
<div>It was meant to be.</div>
<div></div>
<div>I discovered Laura wrapped in plastic, I sipped damn fine coffee with Coop, and Angelo Badalamenti&#8217;s haunting strains crept into my ears and never left. I began taping each episode, I bought Fire Walk With Me from a second hand video stall, I scoured charity shops until I found the book of Laura&#8217;s diary and I wondered if any of my school friends had seen this&#8230;thing. They hadn&#8217;t.</div>
<div></div>
<div>It didn&#8217;t matter to me that I hadn&#8217;t experienced it the first time round &#8211; probably for the best as Bob gives me nightmares at 27 nevermind 7 &#8211; it became a world in which to get lost (and, later, a convenient excuse for wanting to devour cherry pie at any given opportunity).</div>
<div>Jump forward from those heady days of teenage angst through a whirlwind of beautifully blackened humour, dances in the red room and days spent learning how to tie cherry stalks just like Audrey and it&#8217;s time to spend a night with people who HAVE seen this&#8230;thing. I can&#8217;t wait.<br />

		</p><p>Dear Harold,</p>
<div>I was 10 years-old when I watched the first Pilot episode of Twin Peaks and fell in love with the characters; the owls, the theatrical red curtains (yes, I keep replicas in my living room as well) and the mysterious ambience.</div>
<div></div>
<div>However, the hand that dug out Laura&#8217;s necklace from the muddy ground frightened me. Fearful of what such haunting content might have on their impressionable child, my parents banned me from watching any further episodes. The mesmirization  would not cease however, and was even spurred on by the fact that as my mum would continue to brief me on the plots of each episode the day after each screening. The attraction of the forbidden; the &#8216;burnt&#8217; child that seeks the fire&#8230;</div>
<div></div>
<div>It wasn&#8217;t until a decade later that I would watch the whole series in its entirety; in the meantime, I bought a half heart-necklace, which were popular at the time and I kept until I was 17 and able to share it with my one first &#8216;true&#8217; love. I also discovered Lynch&#8217;s other works; Wild at Heart being a particular favourite. For my 30th, I held a Lynch themed birthday party at Santiago&#8217;s in Leeds.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Earlier this year, I forked out a smalelr fortune to learn the techniques of Trancendental Meditation &#8211; who inspired me? Mr David Lynch of course.</div>
<div>from Emma Carlin</div>
